Rubber band guitars!
On Thursday we continued our theme of making instruments with a very exciting project... rubber band guitars! The students broke into small groups and used different sized boxes and rubber bands to build their own guitars. Each group had to use their problem solving skills to figure out the best way to mount the rubber bands and turn their box into an awesome looking guitar! The students noted that each of the group's guitars sounded different because of the size of the resonating chamber (box) and the size and stretch of the strings (rubber bands). Other students made shakers and drums to add to the growing instrument collection. Everything turned out looking great! At the end, they had a jam session with their newly built instruments. Good job, everyone!

Sounds like you have some very creative minds at Longview! They made great observations about the timbrel quality of their guitars!
